Video stories

In their own words.

  • Jenny

Jenny knew fitness was important — but going it alone felt intimidating.

  • Kat

When Kat first walked into Advantage Personal Training, she was in her mid-30s — tired, sore, and unsure where to begin.

Step by step

What’s it like getting started with Advantage Personal Training?

Step 01

Your goals

First, we will discuss your goals, health history, and how Advantage can help you.

Step 02

A movement screen

Next, we will perform a movement screen to better determine if there are any “weak links” in your movement skills and identify how to address them.

Step 03

An initial workout

The assessment is immediately followed by an initial workout. This workout, coupled with the movement screen, will help us determine the right level of training to begin with.

Step 04

Your schedule

Finally, we will recap the results, explain the findings, and establish an exercise schedule.

Questions

What to know before you start.

  • How big are the small groups?

    Small Group format (2-4 people)

  • Do I need an appointment for Team Training?

The Team Training times are predetermined and do not require an appointment.

  • How often should I train?

There can be too much of a good thing in working out. Muscle rest and recovery is essential to your strength training plan, so for optimum results we recommend limiting yourself to 3 strength training sessions/ week, and 4-5 Team Trainings per week.

This place is great. The manager's do not hide in their offices apart from the floor and patrons. They not only make sure everything runs smoothly, they also are involved in personal training. Very approachable. The staff are highly trained and are always available when a question of exercise form or when I need that extra encouragement. I've not seen one have a "bad day". The front desk staff are have always been friendly and accessible. They manage my workout times and email my schedule so I always know what's coming up. The facility has so many types of equipment that I can focus on any aspect and there are many team training classes throughout the week that are challenging and well led. The facility is very clean. The locker room is always in order and has electronic locks on the lockers to secure my items. I usually get one of many post-workout drinks that are tailor made and have a 20gram protein scoop included. The clientele vary from high school students to housewives to professionals and retirees. I started so out of shape that I thought I wouldn't belong but they do an initial assessment to target weaknesses and I do not ever feel like I'm looked down on. I'm very happy to have joined and am excited about getting in shape and becoming healthier.
